Positioned in the Eastern Cape just 15 minutes from the sandy beaches and dunes of the Sunshine Coast and on the eastern slopes of the Bushmans River valley, Khusela is in the heart of an area rapidly becoming known as South Africa’s Game Route. Malaria free and enjoying a very comfortable climate, the Game Route is the continuance of the Wine Route and Garden Route, and is home to many Big 5 reserves including the internationally known Shamwari, Kwandwe, Pumba and Kariega (which borders Khusela) reserves.
In most countries of the world crime is highest in the cities, and South Africa is no exception. Crime in the townships is often featured by the media suggesting the whole country suffers the same fate. However, our personal experience of the Game Route is that it is safe as most parts of Europe.
Khusela enjoys direct access from the tarred R343 road between the university town of Grahamstown and the coastal resort of Kenton on Sea. Shops, banks, fuel, schools and medical services are all reached within 15 - 25 minutes. Port Elizabeth can be reached in a little over an hour, including the city’s airport which provides several daily flights to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
